Byron had a fairly peaceful night! He woke up and ate some breakfast, seems in decent spirits and generally seems a little stronger this morning! For this we are extremely thankful!
Speaking of thankful, I want to take the time to list some other things we are thankful for, even in these really trying circumstances...
We are thankful we are retired - at first we said to each other, "Really? Now? We just retired!" But when we thought about it, we are so glad we retired when we did. We have time together, we have time to make each appointment, lab draw and procedure. Our finances are steady and we have great insurance. I really wonder how anyone could deal with this disease while still working?
We are very thankful that Byron stubbornly refused to take our cross-country trip we had planned this spring in our RV. Once we both were fully vaccinated, I was ready to pack up and go!! But Byron was hesitant about interstate travel through states that were not quite as diligent about masks and COVID restrictions as Oregon is. I really pestered him about it and finally, he told me, unequivocally, "NO!" Boy! Am I thankful for his decision not to travel. Can you imagine if this happened to us on the road?
We are thankful for all of you - the myriad of family, friends, church family and former co-workers who are reaching out, praying, supporting and lifting us up! I try and share each and every comment, email, text and phone message to Byron. They cheer him up and make him smile! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
We are thankful that we have our unwavering faith and the knowledge that no matter what, God is in control and we can rely on Him to give us strength and fill us with peace!
Prayer request: Continued appetite and willingness to eat and good solid rest.
