Byron had a rough night. His breathing is more unsteady and his ability to get out of bed is decreasing. During the night last night, I could not help Byron to the bathroom (it is a two person job) so the Hospice nurse came and catheterized him. He is sleeping most of the time now and really, is unable to get out of bed without falling, so this will be safer for him. He had a temperature, which worried me, but the Hospice nurse says that a temperature is not uncommon at this stage in the disease. We will be transferring him to an adjustable, hospital bed later today, which will make it easier to keep his head elevated and to care for him. On a positive note, his cousin Gina from California was able to visit him and he was aware of her visit. Tomorrow, his three brothers arrive; Wednesday, four cousins; and Thursday, his aunt and uncle. I am praying he is awake and aware when they are here. They are all traveling such a distance to be with him. Byron knows they are coming and every time I mention it, he acknowledges it with a little smile.
Prayer requests: Pray that the transition to the hospital bed goes smoothly and that Byron will not try and get out of bed; pray for continued pain control, for his fever to subside and for him to feel God's peace and to not be anxious. Pray that he is awake and aware of his family members when they arrive, starting tomorrow.
